Terms of use

Last updated 20 October 2026

1. The app

PedalQ is a bike computer and navigator for your phone, made by an independent developer (“we”). By using the app you agree to these terms.

2. An aid, not a guarantee

Routes, maps, turn cues, climbs and radar alerts help you ride; they can be wrong, late or missing. A route may lead along roads or paths that are closed, unsafe or not allowed for bicycles. You are responsible for how you ride: follow the road, its signs and the traffic rules, even where the app says something different.

A radar alert is a warning, never an all-clear. Look and listen yourself. Do not handle your phone while riding; set it up before you leave, in a secure mount.

3. The purchase

Recording, routes on online maps, planning routes in the app, history and exports are free. Offline maps, offline re-routing, climbs ahead, radar, Bluetooth sensors and unlimited data pages are unlocked with a single purchase through Google Play or the App Store, under their terms; for apps from the App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps applies. There is no subscription. Refunds are requested from Google or Apple. You can restore the purchase on another phone with the same store account.

4. Online services

Place search, route planning, weather and map downloads depend on online services, which may sometimes be unavailable, for example during an outage. Riding, recording and following a route on your offline maps keep working.

5. Fair use

Use our servers only through the app. Do not send them automated requests or try to get around the unlock.

6. Map data

Maps and routes are made from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. The app itself, its texts and its design are ours.

7. Our responsibility

We are fully responsible for harm we cause on purpose or through gross carelessness, and for injury to life or health. For minor mistakes we are responsible only if they concern what the app is essentially for, and only for the kind of damage you would normally expect.

8. Law and changes

German law applies; if you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of the country you live in remain. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
